St. Paul Island Fleet: Central Bering Sea Fishermen's Association (CBSFA)

In 2025 a selection of fishermen on St. Paul Island piloted a form developed in partnership with the Central Bering Sea Fishermen's Association to collect data relevent to halibut stocks and ecosystem conditions around the Pribilof Islands. This effort was a push towards a fishermen-owned and controlled database to track and record trends and anomolies relevant to the local fleet and broader marine science of the Bering Sea. Data collected included stomach contents, water temperature, and sea mammal sightings. Fishermen were compensated for their efforts.
