Part of a Larger Indigenous Monitoring Network

Skipper Science is a program of the Aleut Community of St. Paul Island (ACSPI), growing out of the Indigenous Sentinels Network (ISN). Our work combines community-based knowledge, digital tools, and partnerships across Alaska to support resilient fisheries.

The Skipper Science app is powered by the Indigenous Sentinels Network software. The Skipper Science app is designed for fishermen to record observations of local fish and wildlife, commercial  and subsistence resources, and environmental phenomena and anomalies that can provide valuable data over time when collected in a reliable and consistent manner. All data collected is community owned and privacy protected. All users must have an account prior to logging observations.
