The Black Cod Stomach Contents project was a partnership project with National Ocean and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) scientists on groundfish food habitat information. The project examines feeding habits and food web shifts from recent strong-year classes of sablefish in the eastern Gulf of Alaska. The project team worked with fishermen and NOAA scientists to develop a unique sampling protocol to capture photos of stomach contents and submit data through the Skipper Science App. The project was piloted in the summers of 2022 and 2023, and was successful in collecting data according to the developed protocol.
